Easter Eggs

April5

I should blog at work, since I spend most of the day at work. But sometimes, actually most of the time in fact now, I am so ‘busy’ that I do not have time to catch up on my constant diet of blogs.

Tomorrow is Good Friday. In primary and secondary school and even in JC, we would have Religious Emphasis Week (REW) for the entire week. They should have just named it Christianity Emphasis Week. It is not as though they emphasised on other religions. But it was fun in primary school. This Christian dude would come and tell us stories and we would sing songs like “Who is the king of the jungle?”. Every year, they would tell the story of the Crucification of Jesus and I would cover my ears when they repeated the fact that they drilled screws into Jesus’ palms. Perhaps I am lucky that the Passion of Christ was not made during my schooling days.

I distinctly remember though in secondary school, we piled into the old hall and we watched a ‘documentary’ about satanic MTVs and satanic pop stars I think. They showed a George Michael MTV of him walking on the ceiling (or was it Lionel Richie) and they said it was satanic because of him walking on the ceiling. I do not see the logic.

For instance, in primary school, I was told not to buy Procter & Gamble products because the brand was satanic. Naively, I went home to tell my mother about it. In these days, how can you abstain from buying P&G products? About half of household products and beauty products are under P&G. SKII and Olay for instance.

But I did love REW. One, it meant no lessons. Two, I adored listening to stories in primary school and standing up and singing songs. Even Christian songs. Three, I liked chocolate Easter eggs, although I do not think they gave them out in school.

Well, tomorrow I will be at work. Hopefully being productive enough not to have to go back to work during the weekends. You win some, you lose some. I may have lost my public holiday but I regained back my weekend?
