I am a schemer and a planner. With the help of Mr Smith and Ace, I managed to invite The Laney’s 20 or so closest friends for dinner at Botak Jones Toa Payoh to surprise him for his birthday on Saturday.

I initially told him that we were meeting Miss Addy for dinner at Botak Jones. We were at Novena Square before, me spending alot alot of money (heh) when the manager from Botak Jones called me. It turns out even though the Toa Payoh outlet is in a industrial estate food court, you could reserve seats, which simplified things immensely. The difficult part to planning any large scale gathering is that food outlets usually do not accept reservations on Friday and weekend nights. However a condition to reserving 20 seats is that we needed to preorder our food which in the end worked out very well because we did not have to wait that infamously long time for our food that night.

I could not really speak when the Botak Jones manager called me and when Mr Smith smsed me to let me know to bring The laney at 1945 hours, I needed to work fast. I told him that Miss Addy would be late (which is NEVER the case) but he did not blink an eye. On the way, he even asked me to ask what she wanted to eat so that we could order first. As we walked to the food centre, I could see his friends already all there (that will NEVER happen with my friends) and seated in 2 rows. And when he asked me what Addy wanted, I pointed him in the direction of his friends and he was like. huh?
