Fishy Spa

November26

My friends are Sharon, Sharon and Sharon. That is Seow, Chiam and Wang. We went to Qian Hu for the fish spa experience yesterday. I wanted to visit the Sentosa fish spa but of course made the Sharons join me at god forsaken Choa Chu Kang (I can say that because I have lived there before) because it was ten bucks per pax (you cannot beat that). We met at Khatib where Seow drove her husband’s Transformer to pick us up. Nissan Skyline anyone? Every single hot blooded male on the road took a second look at the car we were seated in and there were times where the car next to us were itching for a race. Seow being Seow just slightly panicked as she looked away and tried to ignore the invitation to race.

Piloting the Transformer

We went to check out the Fish Spa before putting our names down for the Spa. As we waited for our time slot, one session was thirty minutes, we visited the store where Seow tried to get a timer feeder for her turtle and Wang tried to scare us into pointing out the size of the mouths of the kois. There were tiny people trying to catch the longkang fish in the little canals near to the pool where the spa fish were. They looked like they were having lots of fun.

Finally it was our turn. As the Qian Hu employee, Ray chased the previous time slot people out of the pool, we were sit down around the pool and told to just put our feet into the pool full of tiny fish that ‘ate’ dead skin. The water was refreshing cold and we put our feet in to prepare for the fish to begin attacking us. And they came! One at at time but they came to our feet, legs, calves. Miss Seow could not stop squirming and sqealing as Ms Chiam was abit more reserved and just kept saying that it was a numbing effect. I could not hear Wang above Seow’s noise. But as we calmed down, more fish came to us. Especially the big ones which were 3 times the size of the tiny fishies. The fishes were really sensitive to movement and with any slight twitch, the fish would swim away. I really enjoyed myself feeling the tickling as the fish worked on us. Wang said the big ones were the supervisors making sure the other fishes were doing their jobs.

Awaiting the fishies.

After we had our ten dollar ’spa’ which our friendly Qian Hu employee, Ray graciously extended our 30 minutes to 35 minutes, we made our way to Farmmart which was near Qian Hu (also in Choa Chu Kang). We ate the aluminium foil bbqed sotong and sting ray, fried rice and hor fun, chicken wings and Seow wanted to eat Quail but chickened out when she heard the auntie refer to it as ‘xiao niao’. How can one eat a ‘xiao niao’? Then we went to check out the Farm, which consist of a couple of turtles, bull frogs, disinterested and diseased rabbits and two over zealous and very very smelly goats. Chiam and Seow almost faint from the stink but offered to pay for us to feed the stinky goat. But it was no deal from Wang.

Miss Chiam does her best to sell the chicken.

The others were feeling adventurous, (the driver in particular) so we decided to go to one of the heartland malls in the west (no there is no Mango or Bysi, Seow), Bukit Panjang in particular. We ate again at Cafe Cartel. As Seow always says, we always eat constantly when Wang is around.

Good times
This is my favourite picture because it perfectly displays all the giggly dizziness that I feel when I am with the Sharons, and yes that is Seow doubled over.

Thank you Sharons for celebrating my birthday with me the fishy way.
