‘I do apologise.’ He was sarcastic.
‘It’s okay.’ She made a face.
‘But a deal’s a deal.’ He reminded her.
‘I feel like I’ve made a deal with the devil.’
‘I’m the devil in disguise.’ He misquoted an Elvis song. She reached over to give him a hug. His knowledge of the music from the Rock and Roll Era endeared him to her so. It was one of the many similarities they shared. She giggled, something that she only did when she had drank too much, as Kai continued to change the words of the song.
‘Hello Deedee.’
She turned around. To come face to face with a too familiar person. Situations like this never presented themselves as they did hypothetically. Gaping like a goldfish out of its bowl, she could feel the blood rushing to her cheeks.
