Oh we got that disco D-i-s-c-o

August14

Disco Heaven! We went to the Lady Gaga concert at Fort Canning. Parking was totally stressful. There were SO many people. In fact, there was a snaking long queue to enter the venue. I had to go into ERP again (oops!) to drive pass Park Mall to park at Regency House. Yes I never knew it existed. But those who really want to know, the parking is per entry after office hours is $2.10. In case you ever need to park there.

Ceetee, Lulu, Seow, C and I walked the long way through Park Mall, up the flights of stairs (reminds us of Fight G) and to the carpark where we Waited in the still snaking and even longer queue. Linda and her boyfriend joined us, then I saw Jupes, Leng and Shups behind us so I asked them to cut queue. (C said the people behind us wanted to kill us). It took a long time for us to get into the venue and when we entered, think Phuture on a Friday night multiplied by a hundred. There were freaking ten thousand people all there to watch Lady Gaga.

I like standing concerts. Even with the sweaty crowd, the hyper irritating teenage angmoh girls, the idiots who had to Smoke, that man that sang along to all of her songs and shouted ‘We love you Gaga’ and then hid behind his friend (unfortunately he had a deep voice so we could hear him, when girls shout and scream and sing it is so high pitch, it just floats off and blends in with the atmosphere). But when the concert started and the first song was Paparazzi, the atmosphere just electrified and exploded. She was great. A top class performer. With her very very hot backup dancers and her very very hot band. She had the crowd eating out of her hand especially with her too many references to Chili Crab.

The concert was an hour long, too short and she did not sing my favourite song of hers – Disco Heaven. Although the disappointment was made up with us trooping to Mambo where we danced and danced and danced with Jas, Mel and Qiwei who were waiting for us in Zouk, until our feet gave way around 2 plus. I love Mambo. Yes, it is cheesy and funny and transvestites dirty dancing on the platform and even making out for the public to see, yes, everyone loves a very good show.

I drove so on the way back home, I winded the windows down and blasted the music. Even after all these years, these rides are the most therapeutic. The lull that comes after the high of clubbing and a good concert, it is difficult to get over but I know that I am lucky to be alive and being able to steer that car that did not die on me while waiting in the carpark. I do not think I will ever treasure what I should and for certain things that I should not treasure, I still continue to obstinately hold close to my heart. But I hope to be able to continue to learn. And also to dance to my Disco Heaven.

Disco Heaven

Oh, the disco heaven
Oh, the disco heaven

Get back, bunny
It’s getting cold in here little honey
We got a show to put on your dress
Take a minute for us and relax, relax
Cupid’s got me, oh with his bow & arrow, baby
He’ll hit you in the pants, hot pants
Get the people to dance and relax, relax

Oh the lights still on, we’re dancing
Yeah the floor is shaking
In this disco heaven
(oh, the disco heaven)
The disco heaven

(oh, the disco heaven)

Oh the lights still on, we’re dancing
Yeah the floor is shaking
In this disco heaven
(oh, the disco heaven)
The disco heaven

(oh, the disco heaven)

Throw your head back, girly
Throw it like those girls in the movies
We got a show to put on your dress
Take a minute for us and relax, relax

The ball is turning, 300 mirrors burning
Through the hearts of the crowd
In the back hips just banging the track
To the music, the music

Oh the lights still on, we’re dancing
Yeah the floor is shaking
In this disco heaven
(oh, the disco heaven)
The disco heaven

(oh, the disco heaven)

Oh the lights still on, we’re dancing
Yeah the floor is shaking
In this disco heaven
(oh, the disco heaven)
The disco heaven

(oh, the disco heaven)

Oh we got that disco
D-i-s-c-o
And we’re in heaven
H-e-a-v-e-n
Disco heaven

Feels just like heaven
Disco heaven
Disco heaven

A line up for the dance
Yeah bring those fancy pants
Y’know there’s disco in the air
And hairspray everywhere

A disco heaven
A disco heaven
Disco heaven
Disco heaven

Oh the lights still on, we’re dancing
Yeah the floor is shaking
In this disco heaven
(oh, the disco heaven)
The disco heaven
