Old Slowhand
I have a new battery for my MacBook! My MacBook is old. In techie terms, four years is horrendously old but I truly love it. More than the other previous really lousy laptops I previously owned. They could not have been worse. They were also reflective of the times, crap boyfriend, crap laptops. Heh. Well, awful times are bad so I have to settle for a new battery than a new laptop. But it’s ok, I still love the MacBook with the Panda DJ spinning skin and a orange Speck cover.
Wonderful Tonight was on the radio this morning on my way to Sunday Morning yoga. It was one of the first songs I learnt to sing by heart. I was a toddler and the old walk up apartment in Novena’s toilet was rife with problems, especially the light. I used to be afraid of flushing the toilet because of the horrendously loud noise it makes so I would pull the flush handle down and rush out of the toilet for dear life. Sometimes, the light would go off and I would have to be in the toilet in darkness so the door would be open. When I sat on the toilet, I would listen to the radio (it was so loud) and one of the songs was this song. It was only later I learnt the gist of how the song came about but then I memorised it out while doing my business. Heh.
Wonderful Tonight
by Eric Clapton
It’s late in the evening; she’s wondering what clothes to wear.
She puts on her make-up and brushes her long blonde hair.
And then she asks me, “Do I look all right?”
And I say, “Yes, you look wonderful tonight.”
We go to a party and everyone turns to see
This beautiful lady that’s walking around with me.
And then she asks me, “Do you feel all right?”
And I say, “Yes, I feel wonderful tonight.”
I feel wonderful because I see
The love light in your eyes.
And the wonder of it all
Is that you just don’t realize how much I love you.
It’s time to go home now and I’ve got an aching head,
So I give her the car keys and she helps me to bed.
And then I tell her, as I turn out the light,
I say, “My darling, you were wonderful tonight.
Oh my darling, you were wonderful tonight.”
