Party Dresses

October4

Every year I buy a dress to wear for my birthday. It is my birthday dress and it is usually worn only once. This year’s dress has not been found yet but it would be very very very very very nice to have this Alice McCall dress.

It fits every requirement I have for my dream dresses:
1. Sleeved.
2. Short.
3. Colourful.

Different world

October4

You know that you are not suited for the climate of an area when you begin to sweat walking outdoors for 7 minutes.

But that does not stop me from putting this Webster Mica Jacket on my wish list. Very Jackie O, brocade, perfect with everything.

This Jules Jacket from their Spring Summer is also a stunner.

The same in black.

Scalloped edged Jacket.

Cute pants with white accents!

French or London Sole?

October2

It is only just October but I am already thinking about my birthday.

I do not think that I have thought about my birthday so far in advance ever. Perhaps the mundanity (my own word) of work and the lack of buzzed in people who I can chat to at work has relegated me to just surfing and thinking to myself.

Ballet flats are my favourite shoes. (I am trying to refrain from saying “I like …” as a colleague throws it around far too much. They are comfortable for a few hours of wear though with little or no support but the right ballet flats are quite a challenge to find. Therefore, I buy every ballet flat that I manage to find and feels so soft when I put my foot in it for the first 20 seconds.

The above French Sole low cut ballet flats are on my birthday wishlist. Love the zebra stripes and the red piping and ribbon. So chic. The list is getting longer, along with things that have always been there.

Salt scrubs and bubble baths

March19

As I type this, I have a mask on my face. Yes, the Awful who does not know how to apply make up or draw her brows does DIY facials with pore packs and masks to pretend that she knows every thing spa like.

These days, daily bathing or rather showering is more of a hassle and a mundane everyday to do instead of a luxury. Upon reaching home, I strive to be in the shower in half an hour. Step in, shampoo, condition, sud up body, rinse off, wash face, scrub stinky feet, step out, dry off, brush teeth, floss, gargle with mouth wash, step out of bathroom.

I never was one of those who took forever to shower. I remember stories about Shue flooding the toilet back in hall. But I was one who took to soaking in the bath tub in bubbles young. In secondary school, I would run the bath and fill it up with very delicious Body Shop Vanilla bubble bath and soak in the un humanely hot water every Friday night until I was a human prune.

These days, I do not even remember that the parents have a bath tub until I use their bathroom.

It is such a pity that time seems to be rather short on supply these days, hence, I did rather spend more time sleeping than more time in the shower.

On the usual bo liao note, yesterday I went to work after lunch at Maxwell Market. The laney’s brother has gone to Sepang for F1, (I always wanted to go, must figure some way out not to miss next year’s) so the laney has a car. I never thought dating someone who drove and had frequent access to a car was important, until now. Anyway, so he dropped me off at work and picked me up, which was a good change from me being the chaffeur, though his driving remains to be much desired.

Going to work on a Saturday outfit:
* FCUK spag strap multi coloured thick straps bought from Shue (I miss those times I would just shop in Shue’s wardrobe)
* Miss Sixty jeans (yay, they still fit!)
* Red two strap birks
* Lulu Guinness Emily bag

Going for Sunday lunch preppy country club outfit:
* Yellow fitted polo from Australia
* Abercrombie pleated very short skirt
* White Havanias
* Same Lulu Guinness bag

Love and Peace

January28

Love, Peace, Kiehl’s. That is what the postcard from Kiehl’s that I stuck on my wall on top of my lappie says. Well, there would definitely be more love from me for Kiehl’s if they were cheaper. Yeah right.

Reunion dinner and later traipsing around Chinatown or River Hongbao outfit:
+ worn once never washed Topshop white sleeveless top with ruffles and cinched at the bottom
+ brown Roxy shorts from Perth (bleah)
+ freshly painted lilac toenails
+ new mushroom haircut (no more long hair, pooey)

Thirsty from KFC lunch.

Man, I’m totally bored at home.

Friday has arrived…

January20

… but I have cramps and a runny sneezy nose. The concert tonight with Kimmy has been put on a damper. Contemplating canceling though obviously wasting money but I heart Freddie Mercury (even his clones) far too much. Grit and bear. Kimmy has a crampy concert companion tonight. Poor boy.

Good things though:

+ FJ Benjamin is opening Gap and Banana Republic in Singapore (yay!)
+ time seemed to pass faster this week at work because of work
+ my concert outfit:
- puff sleeved yellow with tiny flowers Grrl country top
- brown topshop vest
- navy FCUK Jean pants (does not look like jeans, at least I do not think so)
- hair pulled back (goody, can finally make a decent ponytail again)
- silver ballet flats (to throw or not to throw out?)
- mustard green bag from Far East

Sleeping the weekend away

January16

Saturday was Kimmy’s birthday party. It was held at Keppel Club in the evening. I slept in and met The Laney for lunch at Han’s. Having worn my contacts every weekday from 7 something to 7 something at night or even more, makes me feel as though my eyes are really tired and dry. Whether they really are tired is another story but because I feel tired so I presume everything about me is tired. I wore my spectacles to go run errands on Saturday afternoon and felt so distanced from everything I was seeing. I recall telling Ahmu back in JC that when I wear my glasses, I am invisible because I feel that everything around me is a blur and I cannot see them properly so I presume that they cannot see me at all too. Yeah, utter nonsense from me.

So that means I must make new spectacles. Excuse to spend money.

Last Thursday when I was in the queue buying food at China Square and Rahs was behind me, she saw my Lulu Guinness wallet and was very excited. She said she bought the pencil box for her cousin and went on to talk about Loop NYC because the same company that brought in Lulu Guinness brought in Loop. I asked her what she liked, bags, shoes or whatever else, she laughed in her baby bird way and said she liked anything she could spend money on. Spoken like a true girl.

I slept the afternoon then woke up to watch Tyra Banks:the True Hollywood Story and Elvis on tour on the turner classic movie channel. Rushed to shower and get dressed ala 16 year old girl in Teen Vogue:

+ H&M sheer-ish white button down
+ + Striped Jockey bra
+ Striped elastic Bloodbro belt
+ Black warehouse bloomer-ish shorts
+ Bata flats (I am a sucker for pain, I am just so bloody stubborn, wearing those shoes even though they bloody hurt me)
+ retro-ish Paul & Joe clutch with metal handle (heehee Jupes)

Waited like an hour for Auntie Shufang, then drove down to Keppel with very simple directions, right and right again, who could get lost? Not even “I don’t give a damn about maps and definitely don’t look at them” Awful.

Kimmy’s birthday party had good music, great cakes, friends that I have not seen in ages (though Pillay’s future ambitions made me want to puke) and a great atmosphere. The sea (swamp?) was next to where we were seated had a constant sea breeze (land breeze?) and I ate more than my fair share of Weisoon’s Royce chocolates.

Beef chili cheese fries

January13

Last night, met the lovely Shufang, lovelier Addy and abit lovely Missy Teo for dinner at the most lovely Carl’s Jr and had the Loveliest Beef Chili Cheese Fries. Man, I am still thinking about those fries.

Yesterday, I had my Little House on the Praire with totally out of point shoes outfit on:
+ G2000 boring work shirt white with patterns
+ nautical striped navy belt from Bloodbros Project Shop
+ blue Topshop abit like tulip skirt
+ uncomfortable Charles and Keith wedges that I usually wear for clubbing but because abit of wedge makes my calves look longer in skirts so I suffer for vanity
+ a grumpy bitchy attitude

Today, I am dreaming about beef chili cheese fries. I am wearing what Mel calls my ‘you look like a teacher’ outfit.
+ light blue knitted top from G2000 (see the sad sad trend here) with Swirl pin pinned on my right chest (wanted to say ‘on top of my right boob’ but then decided to be demure, oh look, I said it anyway)
+ khaki skirt bought from hundred years ago and is damn ill fitting
+ peep toe green shoes from Far East
= I wanted to more casual today but I was told by my senior maybe I needed to attend a meeting so I did not want to wear awful clothes but in case I had to show face, look more appropriate but whatever, and the skirt is tight and rides up all the time.

Miss Button Cardigan

From Delia’s.

This is a ‘scoopneck with jewelled functional and nonfunctional buttons..’

Hmmm, with so many buttons, wouldn’t it be a bother to figure out which ones were functional? But I like this, so very cute.

Yesterday’s Outfit: Vomit of colours

January11

Precisely because I am bo liao.

Yesterday was absolutely rainy day but as much as I love layering and wear longs, the novelty is very much taken away when you are splashed around by the rain, the cars driving in puddles, the people walking around you in the rain.

Did not want to wear Levi’s again, thighs cannot bear the thought of being suffocated so soon. So decided to wear:

+ pale pink Zara 3/4′s, the only pants that are not tight because it’s cotton so it only expands
+ purple Mphosis tank that The laney’s sister gave me for Christmas (my first top from the shop) but I am not a normal girl and got armpit burns
+ Topshop brown vest on top
+ Longchamp tote
+ Bata canvas flats that STILL bite me and my toes feel banged so much for wearing them in the rain, sigh
+ Levi’s jean jacket because I get cold in the rain sometimes

= looked totally uncoordinated and gross but do not care (that much anyway), weather was gross anyway.
