Cougar central

June28

I’m sick at home with a 2 days mc. Though I hope to be at work tomorrow already. I always feel really angsty when I’m home sick because I always feel that something will happen at work and there will be trouble.

I’m watching a Get Real ‘documentary’ on CNA about much younger men marrying older women. Also known as the Cougar phenomenon (my term). There’s this married couple, a 37 woman and a 26 year old man. I’m not judging them but when he was speaking about how he was attracted to her, like how she was the epitome of what he wanted his wife to be, all I could concentrate on was how big her boobs are. I mean, that’s why he wanted to hit on her right? They were at least C cups lah!

The sand, the sea and the surf

June20

I forgot whether I blogged about Bali yet. Though when you put seven girls together in a two room villa and private pool, there’s bound to be lots of splashing (points at BB).

But this picture just describes it all. Sometimes, life is very simple (of course if you have cash). Sometimes, all you have to do is lie next to the pool, with some of your good friends, some sea and attempted surfing, one of the most beautiful beaches and clear water you seen in your life, a bottle of Walking man shared mostly between two, an array of bikinis and summer dresses (or make that one dress for me), A&W and glorious pempek, two very kind boys who are willing for some reason unknown to chaffeur around. (I think I have blogged about Bali already, but nevermind).

Sometimes, all you need in life is to have Xiuru walking next to you, by your side, a frisbee in your hand.

Smells good

The bonus of the job is the horde of beauty products that I get to be exposed to, especially those cult brands that I had only seen on the pages of magazines.

Like Malin+Goetz Vitamin B5 Body Moisturiser. This is like my dream moisturiser. Citrus fragrance, lightweight but silky on the skin. Plus the minimalist packaging with the Swede inspired type font is just so Muji-quese, I like! I hope this body lasts me long enough. Yum yum!

A huge deal?

June9

I got my medical test back from the doctor’s today. I have high bad cholesterol, apparently I have an abnormal urine test. So what did I do when I opened the letter to discover all this? I started on my MOS burger meal that I tapao-ed home.

I don’t know what comes now, as in, do I have to go back for a test? Damn this HDB medical check up for the loan. As for the cholesterol, I can’t give up fries as much as I want too. The flesh is very unwilling. Or the mind or both.

Well, one thing’s for sure. My pre ‘what happens when you die’ thoughts before I sleep will definitely multiply.

Bah Argh Gah

June8

Everyone is bugging me. I offhandedly mentioned that maybe Bali is a good idea for a place to get married and then how she asks me about it every single night.

Sigh.

Haven’t been looking for any dresses too.

Maybe I should just get married at MacDs and wear my PJs.

What a pain this is.

Whirlwind Jakarta

June8

As with all best intentions, I wanted to detail my weekend trip to Jakarta in (well of course) detail. But we all know about best intentions. I’ll try my best with kind of point form? If not, I will never get down to it.

Here goes:

Plane outfit – I am vain. I never mastered the art of travelling chicly though. I always believe my suitcase will get lost and all my best clothes would go missing forever. I don’t want to mourn on holiday. But ever since I went to Bali with the Tweedles, I realised just how severely lacking I am with it comes to holiday fashion. (and also just how little dresses I own but that’s another story). As I was going to be attending a wedding in Jakarta, I packed 3 dresses and 2 pairs of shoes (wedges and heels). Missy Hartono let me in on how girls dressed up, primped hair and IT bag with shoes. I never do well too with outfits worn on the plane but I think I managed to get it down to pat this time round. A black “I was in Paris” baseball cap, grey Zara 3/4 sleeved cropped denim jacket, sleeveless tie dye purple dress from Bangkok, blue footless Topshop tights and my trusty (and stinky) Stella McCartney for Adidas foldable flats. This time, because my knees were covered, they didn’t hurt on board the plane. Yay.

Harvey Nichols
– The luxury lifestyle store was having its sale. I touched Lanvin, Missoni and various pretty frocks in person, floating on an air of cloud. The only reason I would even learn how to invest is so I can buy all these gorgeous dresses.

Level One – The row of shops leading to Harvey Nichols are kitschy like atas Haji Lane. A Lomo embassy? Sign me up.

Social House – In Harvey Nichols, just downstairs of Missy Hartono’s office. Poptart says that it’s like P.S. cafe. I never been to P.S. cafe, yes I am that sort of poser yummy place avoiding girl. But since I was on holiday, I’ll take a chance and said that I like the ice lemon tea there. They put a dollop of lemon sherbet in it.

Pempek and Bak Mee – Glorious glorious local fried food and too yummy oodles of noodles, I could eat every day!

Papilion Duo – When Missy Hartono suggesting going to this place for dessert, I didn’t know that after an hour plus traveling in the jam would bring us to this little corner in Pacific Place that I would fall in utter lust with. The desserts are Absolutely Divine displayed in the Pierre Herme tradition with artisan chocolates and bar chocolates were on sale too. But what caught my eye as we walked towards the glass doors was the Balenciagas and Comme Des Garcons clothes on display. Missy Hartono and I explored the circular table displaying perfumes like the one that Miss Hartono uses (I don’t know the brand!) and other cult perfumes. Balenciaga items are sold there and also CDG wallets. I mused over the wallet during our tea, I had this lovely dark and milk chocolate pyramid and took the bait after tea. This purple polka dotted embossed wallet is now all mine! I think I could live there. Love you Missy Hartono for being a such a wonderful host!

Jakarta calling

June4

I’m due to fly to Jakarta later today. I never been there but I can’t wait to see Miss Hartono in a heartbeat. I will be bringing this to read, the Teen Vogue Handbook. Everything you need to get a headstart in the world of fashion.

I brought many dresses, including my new French Connection Marimekko-ish dress. None too formal because I don’t have any formal dresses. This is the first time I am attending a Indonesian wedding and I have no idea how ostentatious they are, though I have heard plenty through the grapevine. I definitely am not able to fit into my JC prom dress, besides it is purple with polka dots. But I did well with the toiletries, taking a leaf from the Japanese way of packing.

Apparently, Jakarta’s nightlife is Legendary. I’ll let you know.

Yay or Nay?

Crochet bicycle basket. 136 smackeroos. Finally in Singapore. So how, brown cow?

Relax, take it easy

May28

It was the soundtrack of the night. She listened to the song as she made her way down to the club. It was crowded but she was ushered in by her friends. There were drinks, there were loud blaring music but in her head, the words of the song repeated in her head on and on. Relax. And take it easy. Easy went down the drinks, as she poured them one after another down her throat, only when the liquid reached the bottom did she shudder from the sharp taste. Somehow she loosened up and the music became easy to dance to. It was around two when she felt someone’s eyes on her. She turned and they danced together to the music. In another world and time, someone would have taken the other’s hand and rushed out of the club. Maybe something would have happened later in the night or in the early morning. Perhaps she would have fallen under his easy confident charm and also fallen into infatuation. It was left to imagination in the end. She was tapped on the shoulder and the spell was broken.

I have habits. I listen to my song of the moment on the loop round and round only that song hundreds of times before I can’t bear to hear it anymore after. But inspiration is best when you are caught by the heartstrings and you just can’t shake it away.

“Relax (Take It Easy)” – Mika

Took a ride to the end of the line
Where no one ever goes.
Ended up on a broken train with nobody I know.
But the pain and the longing’s the same.
Where the dying
Now I’m lost and I’m screaming for help.

Relax, take it easy
For there is nothing that we can do.
Relax, take it easy
Blame it on me or blame it on you.

It’s as if I’m scared.
It’s as if I’m terrified.
It’s as if I scared.
It’s as if I’m playing with fire.
Scared.
It’s as if I’m terrified.
Are you scared?
Are we playing with fire?

Relax
There is an answer to the darkest times.
It’s clear we don’t understand but the last thing on my mind
Is to leave you.
I believe that we’re in this together.
Don’t scream – there are so many roads left.

Relax, take it easy
For there is nothing that we can do.
Relax, take it easy
Blame it on me or blame it on you.

Relax, take it easy
For there is nothing that we can do.
Relax, take it easy
Blame it on me or blame it on you.

Relax, take it easy
For there is nothing that we can do.
Relax, take it easy
Blame it on me or blame it on you.

Relax, take it easy
For there is nothing that we can do.
Relax, take it easy
Blame it on me or blame it on you.

(Relax)

It’s as if I’m scared.
It’s as if I’m terrified.
It’s as if I scared.
It’s as if I’m playing with fire.
Relax
It’s as if I’m terrified.
Are you scared?
Are we playing with fire?

Like a cap

May23

Well I did take this picture to Annie (since my Taiwanese boy band 14 dollar dude left the hair place near my house, I am back to J Salon at FEP, I’m not sad but it’s expensive). Of course I look nothing like Mia Wasikowsa. Though Annie tried to make my hair like hers. The baseball caps are back in play of course. Styling is tough especially when I have no flair for it.
